I straight away wanted to paint something that evoked the mood of the current climate, the world paused, cautious, fearful and uncertain. We are in a prominent time that will be in history books. Coronavirus – Covid19.
To me the colours of the time speak greys, blues, green of varied tones. White reminds me of clean, grey speaks out uncertainty, tone of grey can be very authoritarian while green is a very clinical colour and blue feels cautious.
I have chosen objects that where of the cv19 time but also tried to keep to the colours, so i followed the moods i listed.
After finding a set up that I found to be pleasing, I sketched my initial set-up which allowed me to assess what I wanted to include in my image. I then sketched a line and tonal piece allowing me to see the shape and shadow in my piece. I then did a colour test to ensure I could create the right tones. My canvas outline was created using a water and acrylic mix. I then began the process of painting and worked from blue to green, then added tone and details.

My aim for this painting was to make the view feel uncertain. I wanted to create a moody, clinical image. I think overall the actual content would speak volumes to a viewer. The details make a person look harder for longer and the greens & blues give a feeling to the image. The actual objects are very covid themed so overall i feel it creates an uncertain fear, worry and a type of darkness that only echos to people that experienced it which right now is everyone.
