Simple Perspective in interior studies

I was unable to use the area from the previous task for this exercise. I have choose to focus on a chair by a column against a flat walkk and window on a checkered floor. I think both the floor, wall and angle of the chair show a really intresting perspective and the colours are mainly reds and yellows with the exception of white and black.

Initial sketches

First Sketch

I began by drawing the chair which although looks very similar I felt my scale and positioning was off. – I want to start the next sketch with the floor pattern in the hope to achieve better format and scale. I also think I will focus more on the chair and flooring to show a unique use of perspective.

Second Sketch

I have approached this sketch by focusing on the positioning of the flooring patterning closely by the angle of the armchair. I loosle drew out the chair focusing on outline then outlines the darker areas in order to help me create my final painted version. I think after doing this I would like to do a A3 single sheet version for the final part of this task.

Using A3 watercolour paper, I lightly drew the outline using my second sketch, a printed image and physical viewa to help create the most accuarte image possible.

Armchair – Yellow Ochre + Buff Titanium for lightening + Crimson for darkening

Purple + Burnt Umber / Mars Black + Portrait pink for highlighting

Cushion – Purple + Portrait Pink / Titanium white

Walls – Crimson +Burnt umber / mars black

Titanumn white/ warm grey

Floor – Paynes Grey / Buff Titanium + Titanium white

I think it looks brilliant. This is actually one of my favourite piece I have done in this course so far. I love the looseness create as it was a drawing in paint exercise. I think the colours have been used in such a way that allows me to see the space around the chair. I think the floor added the impression of space and the light carried through the windows allowed me to create an illusion of light with my use of lightning colours and showing light and shadow on every element.
